The Vendée is a tourist department par excellence, bordered by the ocean and renowned for its fine sandy beaches. The Vendée stretches from the south of the Loire to the north of La Rochelle, famous for its two ports, Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and of course Les Sables d'Olonne.
Situated halfway between the north and south of France, its road and rail networks have become a real attraction for tourists (over 450 hotels in the Vendée) and industry alike. Paris is only 4 hours away, Bordeaux 3 hours and Rennes 2 hours, and all of that by expressway. As for the TGV, it runs all the way to Les Sables d'Olonne, putting Paris less than three hours from the beach.
But the Vendée is also the bocage, rich in history. The Chouans war. There are many châteaux to discover, including the Château de Barbe Bleue in Tiffauges and the Château de Talmont Saint Hilaire.
And let's not forget the famous Puy du Fou theme park, which has taken off in leaps and bounds over the last decade. It takes you back to different periods in history. A must-see and not to be missed.
As manager of the Calme des Pins hotel, we can assure you that the satisfaction rate in return is enormous.
There are a number of hotels in the Vendée to choose from, both in the bocage and on the coast:
The first, between Nantes and La Roche sur Yon, is La Chabotterie, with its top-of-the-range restaurants, and the second, on the coast, is Le Calme des Pins, with its warm welcome, spa and free fitness room, just a stone's throw from the sea. All in all, a charming hotel in the Vendée!
